Experts in foreign policy and defence in Hungary’s previous government drew up a plan for the country to develop its own satellite programme. Viktor Orbán liked the idea, but according to an investigation by Direkt36, he later handed the project to 4iG, a company with close ties to the Fidesz government, despite internal opposition.

According to documents obtained by Direkt36, state funds were secretly directed to a company called 4iG. This happened at the very time when the government decided to sell state-owned defense companies to this firm.

A Direkt36 investigation has revealed that the Hungarian Prime Minister personally got involved in an acquisition of 4iG, a Hungarian telecommunications company that is officially owned by private individuals. The Hungarian government helped in other ways as well, including a secret investment worth of billions.
